Grandpa’s Probe GT

Every time I see this car, I always think that if Darth Vader was ever to build a project and compete in the import/domestic tuner show circuit, it would look exactly like Mike’s Probe GT. It is the type of car that other cars don’t want to be parked alone with on an empty dim lit street at night. “Straight up mean looking” is what most spectators describe it. The more I think about it, the more it boggles my mind. How is it that one of the meanest and original looking cars in the scene is also owned by one of the nicest and funnest (“funnest” is my creation- BD) guys around? Is there some sort of Freudian underpinnings here? If you ever get a chance to chit chat with “Grampa” at an event, have him give you 5 minutes of his time and at the end of those 5 minutes, you will want 5 more. The more time you spend with “Grampa”, the more you will start to realize that not only does he have an awesome sense of humor, but this guy bops his head to the beat of a different drummer. A cooler and a more original drummer that is. From the one-off custom front end conversion that is the offspring of two other front ends, to a complete revamp of his stock gauges and instrumentation in favor of a look that you would normally find in a… Tie Fighter, Mike’s ride is full of these “different drummer” ideas. The more you stand there at a show and look at it, the more you admire it and dare I say it, fear it. But don’t worry, that guy getting out is not Darth Vader, it’s just Mike… and to the best of my knowledge, he’s got no clue on how to use the dark side of any Force.
