I have slowly but surely been modifying “Project86” to my liking. I am pretty happy with what I have built so far and wanted to do something a little special to really make it mine. So I reached out to Yospeed to have something made.
Yospeed specializes in custom billet accessories for various vehicles including the twins. For the 86’s they make a nice little center console plaque that goes in the spot where the heated seat switches go in the BRZ. They also make door sills for the twins. In the FR-S this spot just looks silly because they do not offer heated seats.
They offer a few standard designs like the 86 logo above, FR-S, BRZ ect. As nice as those look I wanted something just for me. Thankfully they offer a service to make any design you want so I made a little something.
I figure that automakers are always making special editions of cars and giving them names why not make my own. They add a few parts or offer it in a special color and call it something and call it a special edition. Scion in particular has the Monogram and Release Series.
Now there is the Jade Series, number 1 of 1.
The items from Yospeed looked great right out of the package. The material was super thick and the engraving was crisp and clean. For the plaque I went with straight billet to make it pop a little with the black from the console surrounding it.
Install could not have been any easier. The dash plaque has some double sided tape on the back and simply sticks into the opening.
The door sills come in a black finish with the billet engraving. They have great contrast and just “pops”.
The door sills take a little bit more time to install, like 2 minutes. All you need to do is pull up the factory plastic sills.
I just got my finger up under the edge and pulled up until it popped out. Then all that is left is to take the little clips out. I took a little flat head and got under the side and pushed one half of the clip in then while pulling up I pushed the other side in from the top and they slide right out. Once the clips are all out you just near need to clean the area underneath.
Don’t use mist and wipe or anything. Use wax and grease remover or even windex, just make sure it is all dry and free of dirt. After that all you need to do is pull off the back of the tape, line them up and stick them down.
If you want to dress up or personalize your car hit up Yospeed and pick up some high quality billet items.
